Who we are
The TW Edit is a free online directory of children's activities in Tunbridge Wells and surrounding areas, operated by Danny Whatmough as an individual. Our website is twedit.co.uk.
For any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at info@twedit.co.uk.
What data we collect
User accounts
When you create an account, we collect your email address and name. We use a magic code system for authentication, so we never store passwords.
Children's age information
You can optionally add your children's birth month and year (not full date of birth) so we can send you relevant notifications about age-appropriate activities. This is entirely optional and you can remove it at any time from your account page.
Favourites
If you save activities to your favourites, we store which activities you've saved against your account.
Activity submissions
If you submit an activity listing, we collect the information you provide in the form, including a contact email address.
Analytics data
We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand how people use the site. This collects anonymised usage data such as pages visited, device type and general location. See our cookie policy for details.

How we use your data
- To let you sign in and manage your account
- To save your favourite activities
- To send you relevant activity notifications (if you opt in)
- To process activity submissions and provider claims
- To understand how the site is used and improve it
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
Third party services
We use a small number of third party services to run the site. Each processes only the minimum data needed:
| Service | What it does | Data processed | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| PostHog | Analytics | Anonymised usage data | EU (Frankfurt) |
| Resend | Transactional email | Email address | US |
| Railway | Hosting and database | All site data | US |
Where data is processed outside the UK, appropriate safeguards are in place under UK GDPR.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for session management and analytics cookies via PostHog. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Full details are in our cookie policy.
Children's data
While our directory lists children's activities, accounts are created by parents and guardians, not children. We collect children's birth month and year only, not full dates of birth, and solely to help recommend age-appropriate activities. We do not collect children's names or any other personal data about them.
If you believe a child under 13 has somehow created an account, please contact us at info@twedit.co.uk and we will delete it immediately.
Data retention
- User accounts: kept until you delete your account or ask us to remove it
- Session data: expires after 30 days of inactivity
- Magic codes: expire and are deleted after 10 minutes
- Analytics data: retained by PostHog per their retention policy (anonymised)
- Activity submissions: kept for as long as the listing is active
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate data
- Delete your data (right to be forgotten)
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Data portability, to receive your data in a usable format
- Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent (e.g. notifications)
To exercise any of these rights, email info@twedit.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
